Good morning/afternoon, dear judges. I'm number 2. Today I’m so glad to have this opportunity to stand here and share my teaching ideas with you. My topic is “Whose dress is this?” and my presentation consists of the following aspects.
I Analysis of teaching materials
Firstly, please allow me to talk about teaching materials. The lesson is from Yilin Press English book for primary school, the second semester of grade 4 Unit 6, Cartoon time. The main topic of this part is about a funny story between Bobby and Sam. After learning this lesson, students will understand the meaning and usage of some words: move, hand, hurt as well as a sentence pattern: what’s the matter. At the same time, students reading and speaking ability will be well practised in this lesson.
II Analysis of students
Secondly, I’d like to say something about students. Our students are in Grade 4. They are active and curious in this period and interested in new things. I would attach importance to the communication with them, providing them more chances of using language. Since my students have learned English for two years, they have some basic English background knowledge.Therefore, I will design some interesting activities to encourage them to think and learn.
III Analysis of teaching aims
According to the English curriculum standard, teaching material and students, I set the following teaching aims:
(1) Knowledge aims:
Students can understand the meaning and usage of some words, such as: move, hand, hurt.
Students will learn to use the sentence pattern: what’s the matter?
(2) Ability aims:
Students will have a better improvement in their reading ability.
Students will express their own ideas freely using what they have learned today.
(3) Emotional aims:
Students will foster their interest of learning English and would like to cooperate with others in class.
After learning this lesson, students will be more confident of communicating with others in English.
IV Analysis of teaching key points and difficult points
(1 )Key points:
The meaning and the usage of move, hand, hurt and sentence pattern: what’s the matter?
Act out this story fluently.
(2)Difficult point:
How to build their confidence of learning English.
How to apply what they have learned into their daily life.
V Analysis of teaching methods and learning methods
After those analyses, I will talk about the teaching and study methods. I’ll mainly use “Task-based teaching method”, “Communicative language teaching method” as teaching methods. As for the study methods, I will lead them to act out this dialog in groups and learn to communicate with others so as to become the real host of the class.
VI Analysis of teaching procedures
Step 1 Warm-up and Lead-in
At the beginning of my class, I will greet with my students briefly. Then I will teach them a rhythm: Whose cake is this? The song is:Whose cake is this?
